4.1.8. Geminalni i vicinalni alkoholi

Ponekad se u nazivima diola koriste oznake gem i vic. Geminalni ili gem alkohol ima dvije hidroksilne skupine vezane na isti ugljikov atom. Riječ potječe od latinske riječi gemini što znači blizanci.
