This is Peter and Mary Brown. Peter and Mary have two children. Scarlet is 30 years old and Clark is 35 years old. This is Mary and John Smith. They have two children. Their daughter, Britney, is Clark Brown’s wife. Britney has a sister, June. Britney’s sister June has a husband, too. His name is Dave Black. June and Dave have one child. The girl’s name is April. April is 7 and she is an only child. April isn’t sad for being an only child because she has her cousins to play with. Her cousins, Claire and baby Tom are her aunt Britney’s children. They are April’s cousins and best friends. April loves her family. She likes spending time with her grandmother. She loves her grandmother's old games and her grandfather’s stories. Peter and Mary love their granddaughter April very much. April’s uncle Clark and aunt Britney have another niece, Janice, and a nephew, Ken. Janice and her brother Ken live with their mother Scarlet. Their parents are divorced. Ken and Janice’s father, Jim, lives in another house. He loves Ken and Janice. They love him, too. They spend a lot of time together. The Browns, the Smiths, the Blacks…. Well, every family is different but they are still the same. Have you got a family story to share?

5 Around the house
Let’s learn English around the house. Can you place the objects around the house? Listen, watch and find out.
Hi, I am Mary Collins and I am from Canada. Welcome to my house. I just used the front door. It is a bit hot here so I am taking my coat I am putting it on the coat hanger. I am also taking my shoes off. They go to the closet.
This is the kitchen. In the kitchen there is a fridge. Behind me there is a sink and the stove. The bottom part of the stove is the oven. Over here, there are cupboards. In the cupboards, there are some plates, bowls and glasses.
Let's move on to the living room. In the living room there are usually sofas, chairs or a couch. You usually rest in the living room. This is a flat screen TV where I watch my favourite programs.
Let's look at the dining room. This is my favorite room. There is a dining room table and chairs for people to eat.
So, we are in the bathroom now. Here, there is a shower, a toilet, a wash basin and a huge mirror.
This is the bedroom. We call it a bedroom because there is a bed in it. Also, there is a dresser. There are the night tables beside the bed.
I am going down the stairs. This is the basement. People store things here. In the basement there is a laundry room. Check the washing machine and the dryer. It can be cold in Canada, so we need the laundry room.
Thanks for joining me today to learn some English around the house.
