3.4 Oldies but goodies

Moći ću...

1 Are you into films?

Listen to the tapescript and read the dialogue. Use the following words from the drop-down menu to finish the dialogue: better, the best, the most interesting, more interesting, cooler, the coolest.

LEO: Mum, dad, let's watch a film together. Something you like.

MUM: A perfect idea! "The Sound of Music" is the best film I have ever seen! Let's watch it together!

LEO: The sound of what? Oh, no, not a musical drama, mum.

MUM: But, Julie Andrews was great in that one. And the plot, oh my god. It was one of the most interesting films of the '60s.

DAD: Maybe to you. If you are into World War II, let's try the "Schindler's List". It is far more interesting.

LEO: What is it about?

DAD: Well, it is about a businessman, who saved more than a thousand mostly Polish-Jewish refugees from the Holocaust by employing them in his factories during World War II.

LEO: It sounds better than the first one. But, still I am not into World War II. Not tonight.

DAD: "Gone with the Wind"? Oldie but goodie. The scene where Vivien Leigh makes a dress out of drapes in the middle of the war is the coolest one I have ever seen.

MUM: Yes! I adore brave and invincible women. And the end: Tomorrow is a new day…

LEO: A spoiler! Mum, don't do that. Let's move to the next one.

DAD: I know! We'll watch "Dirty Dancing" with Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. Your mother likes it a lot. I think she saw it like a thousand times. And, it is cooler than any other dance film up to now.

MUM: Well, well, well... I do like it. Let me tell you a secret... Your father and I met in the cinema back in 1987 when the film was released. He was the only one in the cinema crying. That's how I spotted him.

LEO: Cried? Dad? I must see that film!
