 A) All of these various and amusing events last for five weeks, from the middle of January until

                  end of February. All parties, sports events and competitions end with a Grand Closing Parade with the
                  burning of Pust and returning the city key to the Mayor.
                
B) The Rijeka carnival begins with Queen Pageant and the handover of the city key to the Master of
                  the
                  Carnival. Regardless of your age or your nationality everybody is welcome to the most famous carnival
                  in
                  Croatia. Traditionally it includes “ugly masks” that are believed to chase away evil
                  spirits and demons
                  but there are also numerous street parties, masquerade balls, a parade with participants from abroad
                  and
                  the prince and princess contest. Many kindergartens and schools from all around Croatia take part in a
                  cheerful and colourful Children’s parade. The carnival is special because it isn’t only
                  about having fun
                  but it also includes voluntary blood donation organised by Red Cross.
