ANN: Really? What does she do?

JACKIE: She runs the town’s animal shelter and helps abandoned animals find a loving home.

ANN: Why do you admire her?

JACKIE: Although she spends so much time at work, she is also collecting money for a new shelter for wild animals which can’t be placed with dogs and cats in the old shelter. She’s so hard-working and energetic!

ANN: Wow, that’s great! I didn’t know that! Does she also help people?

JACKIE: Yes, she serves food to homeless people every Saturday evening.

ANN: I’m really impressed! She’s so generous and kind! Which organisation does she support?

JACKIE: The local soup kitchen, of course!

ANN: Has she ever received an award for her charity work?

JACKIE: Yes, she has. Last year the mayor gave her the award for the person of the year.

ANN: Now I really want to meet her!

JACKIE: No problem, you can come to my house one day and talk to her.

ANN: What is she doing now? Is she at work?

JACKIE: No, she is having a meeting with some of the local entrepreneurs to raise money for the shelter. I hope she’ll succeed!

ANN: I hope so too! Jackie, are you similar to your mum or not?

JACKIE: People don’t usually realise that we are related when they see us, but I think that our characters are very similar because we are both helpful, hard-working and generous.

ANN: I know that you are. I’m looking forward to meeting your mum soon! Bye!

JACKIE: Bye Ann!

GIRL 1: Hm, I’m not sure, but I would probably choose Bryson because I need something amusing to distract me from my problems.

BOY 1: What about the other girl, next to Martha? Have you ever seen her before?

BOY 2: No, I haven’t. It is so noisy in here that I can hardly hear what you are saying!

BOY 1: What have you said? I didn’t hear you because of the noise and the music.

GIRL 1: I am having a party next weekend.

GIRL 2: What are you having? I can’t hear you, sorry.

GIRL 1: I’m having a birthday party at my house next Saturday. My parents have agreed to invite the people over.

GIRL 2: Who has agreed?

GIRL 1: My parents. They are letting me invite 10 of my closest friends for a party and a sleepover. I will tell you more about it later, I have just spotted a boy that I like in the back.

BOY 1: What are the girls talking about? They are looking at us.

BOY 2: Who is looking at us?

BOY 1: The girls that we were talking about, I think they are checking us out.

BOY 2: Are they checking out you or me?

BOY 1: Who knows, maybe we can talk to them later.
