3.5 When I finish school...

Moći ću...

1 What do you think?

Some students don't go to university after finishing secondary school. Think about the reasons and talk to your partner about them.

2 Listening

Listen to Alexei and Misha, students from Russia, talk about their friend's future career choices. Choose 'They agree' if both agree with the statement, or 'They disagree' if they don't agree.

ALEXEI: Hi Misha! Have you heard the latest news about Roman?

MISHA: Hi, what news?

ALEXEI: He is not going to go to university after our final exams because he wants to be a model.

MISHA: A model? I don't think that's very smart. He won't have any qualifications when he ends his career one day.

ALEXEI: Well, I see what you mean, but if he wants to be a model, he doesn't really need any qualifications. Personally, I think that he is doing the best thing for him.

MISHA: You do? I think that's nonsense. It's very difficult to become a successful model. If he doesn't get a good contract soon, he will need to get some kind of a job.

ALEXEI: That's true, but I think that he will get a modelling job easily because he's really good looking and he also has a great personality.

MISHA: I couldn't agree more! He is gorgeous and a great person, but I don't think that it is enough. You need to have good connections in the modelling business.

ALEXEI: I'm not so sure about that. That's how it was before, but today it's like that. If you ask me, he just needs to have a positive attitude and believe in himself.

MISHA: That's a good point. But I still think that he should finish university first.

ALEXEI: I totally disagree! I really think that Roman should follow his dream. In my opinion, he has a great chance to become really famous.
